Prosperity is a way of living and thinking, and not just money or things. Poverty is a way of living and thinking, and not just a lack of money or things. – Reverend Eric Butterworth.
When clients arrive at my office, most of the issues they present me with fall into three categories: fulfillment, relationship and finance. Interestingly, I’m seeing more and more people these days who are struggling with the financial aspect of their lives because of negative programming and beliefs. Throughout our lives we hear that money is the root of all evil, and that wealthy people are bad and that if we have money we will have nothing but problems. None of this is true, of course. It is, however, negative programming that creates beliefs that corrupt and distort our interaction and relationship with money.
Money is really just a symbol of energy. We work or create a product or idea and we expend energy in the doing. When that work is received and proves useful to others they return the energy to us in the form of money. Of course there are many factors that determine our financial situation, so it is very crucial to determine which blocks or beliefs are keeping us from achieving our financial goals.
Carl Jung said “what we resist persists “. In layman’s terms that can be understood as what we think about is what we bring about. In this abundant world we live in, it amazes me that most people focus on not having enough instead of being grateful for all that they actually do have. It is through our thoughts that we create. Henry Ford said if you think you can you are right and if you think you can’t you are right. We create whatever we believe. When we focus on not having enough and having too many bills, we continue to create and receive a life of not having enough and having too many bills.
I’m not suggesting we live as if there is no tomorrow. On the contrary, live as if all you have is today. In so doing, you put all your energy into your efforts and you will be amazed at what you accomplish and achieve. By changing our thoughts and our actions, we change our energy and open ourselves to receive more positivity and prosperity. Change rarely happens on the upside before change happens on the inside. We spend so much time trying to fix things in our outside world, with little success if we don’t first fix things on the inside.
It is by changing our programs and beliefs, what we think of, that then changes our world around us. Daily, I see many people successfully creating greater positivity and prosperity in their lives. We have the choice. We know that we will all go through life carrying beliefs and responding to them throughout our life’s journey. The question is do you choose to go through life and create poverty for yourself or abundance? I was once told that there are three types of people in the world. There are people who make things happen, there are people who are going to make things happen, and there are people walking around asking what happened. So which do you choose to be? Once you choose, through your thoughts, actions and beliefs you will become exactly that.
